According to the NYPD, they have detained a suspect in the drugging and murder of two men in New York City’s gay nightlife.
The New York Police Department confirmed to ABC News that they had detained a 30-year-old man named Jacob Barroso on Saturday and charged him with murder, robbery, identity theft, grand larceny, and conspiracy.
According to investigators, Barroso is responsible for the killings of John Umberger and Julio Ramirez. They were given medications tainted with fentanyl, which prompted investigators to judge their deaths as murders.
Two more persons are wanted by police in connection with the murders.

According to sources, Barroso will be in court on Monday.
Ramirez, age 25, was discovered dead in a cab on April 21, 2022, after a night out at Ritz Bar and Lounge, where he is believed to have spent all of his money.
On June 1, 2022, Umberger, 33, was discovered dead in the flat on East 61st Street where he had been residing since arriving in New York on business. Linda Clary, Umberger’s mother, claims that her son had almost $200,000 taken from his phone and credit cards.
The NYPD believes the robberies that resulted in the murders of Ramirez and Umberger happened between September 19, 2021, and August 28, 2022. In light of this trend, police are looking at 17 other cases.
Prosecutors were able to get indictments related to the case last week, and at least one more individual may be charged with second-degree murder.
With the instances of Umberger and Ramirez, seven out of at least 43 drugging occurrences connected to robberies in and near Manhattan clubs since September 2021 resulted in fatal overdoses.
While the trends came to light after the April and June 2022 killings linked to homosexual clubs in the Hell’s Kitchen district, they include a combination of gay and straight establishments, as well as individuals of all sexual orientations and gender identities.
