Alabama State Trooper Involved in Escambia County Shooting Leaves 1 Dead and 3 Injured

In a shooting that occurred in Escambia County on Sunday night and following a pursuit, one person is dead and three others, including an Alabama State Trooper, are hurt.

The Highway Patrol Division of the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency reports that a Trooper attempted to pull over a car for a traffic infraction on Interstate 65 close to milepost 101 in Conecuh County at around 6:30 p.m. A pursuit began after the motorist made an attempt to elude, according to ALEA.

The agency reported that the chase went on into Escambia County, where the car eventually turned off the road. After getting off the road, an officer-involved shooting took place, according to ALEA.

Two additional subjects were hurt and were sent to a nearby hospital for treatment, while one person is dead. Also, the ALEA Trooper who was involved in the event was hit by gunfire and sent to a nearby hospital for treatment.

The officer-involved shooting is currently under investigation by special agents with ALEA’s State Bureau of Investigation. According to ALEA, once finished, the findings will be delivered to the Escambia County District Attorney’s Office.
