Hara Aso’s manga of the same name inspired Alice in Borderland, a Netflix Original film. The show, which is directed by Shinsuke Sato and written by Yasuko Kuramitsu, is quickly becoming one of Netflix’s most successful foreign originals, and it has become one of the most successful live-action adaptations of a popular manga series.
Is There Any Word On When We Might Get To See Alice In Borderland Season 3?
There have been whispers about a third season of Alice in Borderland, but no confirmation, either way, has been made. We continue to have faith because there is still so much more to this narrative.
Since both seasons were released in December, fans had to wait just over two years between installments. This doesn’t, however, guarantee that we should start planning for Christmas 2024.
The pandemic did delay the production of season two, which is why we had to wait two years to see it. However, season three might arrive on the streaming service as early as December 2023.
We may be stretching the definition of “early” here, but a year is still quite a while in the film industry, and if you want truly jaw-dropping production values, you shouldn’t rush things. Unfortunately, it seems as though everything was resolved by the end of season two. We learned why Arisu and her pals had been missing for so long, why the city was so strangely deserted, and why they were constantly confronted by psychotic card-themed villains.
But there was that kook in the last frame. Is going to the hospital just *another* layer of reality? The complexity of this situation exceeds the capacity of human thought. See the cast in the next paragraph.
Cast For Season 3 of Alice in Borderland?
We were shocked to see Niragi (Dori Sakurada) and Aguni (Shô Aoyagi), two characters we thought had been killed at the end of season one of Alice in Borderland, return in season two. They survived Season 2 despite being severely injured (Niragi more so), therefore we may anticipate seeing them again in Season 3.
Tatta does not share this quality. Since Yutaro Watanabe’s character was buried halfway through the season, we don’t expect him to come back from the grave.
Despite being subjected to bomb blasts, stabbings, and other near-death experiences, Arisu and Usagi (Tao Tsuchiya) are still here with us for at least one more season. How exciting!
Similarly, the characters played by Aya Asahina, Nijirô Murakami, and Ayaka Miyoshi, Kuina, Chishiya, and Ann, all hobbled to the finish line and will presumably return for future installments.
Yuri Tsunematsu, a relative unknown before her role as Heiya, was a welcome addition to the cast and should return if she was spared.
The actress who plays Mira Kano, Riisa Naka, recently talked to Nextshark about her desire to have her character come back for a third season. She was introduced in the first season as a high-ranking member of “the Beach,” but later became known as the Queen of Hearts, Arisu and Usagi’s final adversary in the Borderlands.
“If there were to be a season three, I wonder what would happen with the whole team that fought together so far,” she said. “You saw the ghost of Hatter introduced in the show so many times, so I have this feeling that he might come back again. So for Mira, you might also think that she could return.”
Alice In Borderland Season 2 Ending Explained
As the grand finale got underway, the stakes had never been higher for Arisu and the others. Even though he was the only one fighting fit to play in the championship game, Arisu managed to bring Usagi inside so they could both rest and recover. Croquet was the deciding match versus Mira, the Queen of Hearts. But she spends most of the game trying to manipulate the two, almost succeeding in making Arisu believe that the whole universe is a delusion. It’s thanks to Usagi that stops Arisu from yielding, and in the process, the two ultimately express their affection for each other.
Mira wins the game of croquet, but ultimately Arisu wins after understanding that all he had to do was not forfeit the game. With all of the face cards defeated, Mira is annihilated by the sky laser, and all of the players are confronted with the choice of returning to the actual world or accepting life in Borderland. Except for Banda and Yaba, all of the players leave.
After regaining consciousness, the group finds themselves at a hospital, where Arisu explains that a meteor obliterated much of Tokyo and that those who survived were relocated to the Borderlands. Sadly, none of the players recall their shared experience in Borderlands, but this doesn’t stop Arisu and Usagi from finding each other in the hospital.
Not everything is as it seems, though, as the camera pans across the hospital grounds and reveals a deck of cards, all save the Joker, blasted away.
What To Expect From Alice In Borderland Season 3?
There isn’t a lot of material to draw from if Alice in Borderland were to return for a third season. It also means that the authors will have plenty of room to experiment with fresh ideas in the coming season.
