Avowed Pc Release Date: For first-person fantasy aficionados, Avowed has been at the top of their most anticipated lists ever since its reveal in 2020. If we have to wait at least a decade for Elder Scrolls 6, Obsidian’s Skyrim-like spinoff from the Pillars of Eternity universe may be exactly the thing to satisfy our open-world wanderlust in the meanwhile.
The best way to learn about a cave system is to just go exploring armed with a sword, a spellbook, and the assumption that there will be a skeleton nearby so that you may write an entry in your diary.
Unfortunately, our high expectations haven’t been met: there has been no word on Avowed since its initial release. However, now that Grounded is out of Early Access and Pentiment is nearing release, Obsidian’s docket looks quite open, and we still have The Game Awards to look forward to before the year is up. Keep your fingers crossed that Keighley has some Avowed to show off.
Avowed Pc Release Date
There is currently no set date for the release of Avowed. There was no time frame or even a probable year hinted at in the trailer that was released.
Nonetheless, perhaps we can begin discussing Avowed now that Obsidian has released Grounded 1.0, the final installment in their early-access survival game, and Pentiment is set to go live in November. Of course, Obsidian has also announced plans for a sequel to their space-themed role-playing game The Outer Worlds, and the release order of these two games is currently unknown.
There have been a number of reports indicating that development is proceeding smoothly and swiftly on the game, leading some to believe that it could be released in the second half of 2023.
This is just conjecture until we hear otherwise from Microsoft, who has not yet announced a release date for the game.
An eerie cinematic trailer for Avowed was shown for the first time at the 2020 Xbox Games Showcase. The time we spent with Avowed was brief, but it was enough to get a feel for the game and learn a few critical elements, including the fact that it is a first-person role-playing game in the manner of The Outer Worlds and Skyrim.
Despite showing no actual gameplay, the trailer concludes with the player brandishing a sword and tracing out a spell in the air that charges their hand with some violet energy while an invisible enemy, presumably a very enormous and flaming one, approaches. It’s awesome, and it reminds me of when the Balrog pursues Frodo and company in The Lord of the Rings.
While hardly much else is shown, the trailer’s narrator seems to indicate that vows will play a significant role in the plot. In addition, astute users of the Avowed subreddit have translated the inscriptions engraved on the sword in the trailer, noting that they are written in a language that already exists in Pillars of Eternity, and has therefore learned that the weapon is called Oathbinder.

Can You Tell Me About the Gameplay of Avowed?
As of right now, the only thing we know for sure is that Avowed will be a first-person role-playing game, although speculations have long circulated that the game will have similarities to Skyrim and other Elder Scrolls RPGs. Earlier this year, Obsidian advertised many open positions, which may provide clues as to the nature of Avowed’s gameplay.
We had assumed that Avowed will be a first-person melee and magic game in the vein of The Elder Scrolls based on the trailer for the game and some previous job advertisements. In October of 2021, a report goes into some preliminary specifics on warfare that hint at the same.
Windows Central claims that the first-person combat in Avowed is fast-paced and allows for the use of two weapons at once. For a rogue-like character, you may use two daggers, a bow, a combination of weapons and magic, or just two potent spells. There is also a discussion of the use of enchanted weapons like frozen arrows and magical swords.
Fans of Skyrim will undoubtedly recognize the resemblance.
What is the Connection Between Avowed and Pillars of Eternity?
Setting aside the fact that Avowed takes place in Eora, it is unclear how the characters or events of Pillars of Eternity are related to those of Avowed. The games may share just tangential lore, and Avowed may take place on a different continent or in a different historical period.
However, users on the Pillars of Eternity subreddit have spotted some intriguing links. Woedica, the god of justice and law also known as “Oathbinder,” has a symbol that appears on the flags flying over the castle in the opening picture.
Adrian, the language of one of Eora’s largest empires, was used to predominantly worship Woedica, and its runes are identical to those on the sword seen in the teaser. Woedica, a god that seeks to reassert her rule over all of existence, acts as a form of indirect nemesis to the player in both Pillars of Eternity and its sequel.
Based on this, it has been speculated that Avowed takes place in the Aedyr Empire before the events of Pillars of Eternity. It all fits together nicely when you think of the Aedyran runes engraved into the Oathbinder sword and the banners we saw in the teaser. The events of Pillars of Eternity take place after Woedica had already been banished. This trailer’s gloomy monologue about broken pledges may refer to her fall from power, which could be the subject of Avowed.
