Billy Joel’s Real Estate Portfolio: From Long Island to Florida
Over the years, Billy Joel has amassed quite a real estate portfolio, buying and selling luxury homes in places like Florida and New York’s Long Island. Sting, Jerry Seinfeld, and Mickey Drexler were among the former homeowners he’s helped find properties for. He likes to joke that he is the “realtor to the stars.”
In 2002, Billy spent $22.5 million on a mansion in Oyster Bay, New York, called Middlesea, which sits on 14 acres of land on Centre Island. Through a series of acquisitions, he was able to increase the size of the land to 26 acres.
When he bought the place in 2002, it included a mansion that was 14,000 square feet. He grew to occupy a 20,000-square-foot space. There are two pools on the property, as well as a helipad and a beach house. Billy put the house up for sale in May of 2023 for $49 million.
There is a second Sag Harbor, New York, property that Billy owns.
Two adjacent 4-acre estates in Manalapan, Florida cost him little under $12 million in 2014. There was an approximately 9,000-square-foot mansion on one of the sites, and the other lot remained undeveloped. In 2015, he put the entire complex on the market for $29 million.
Separate from the vacant land, he advertised the mansion for $19.5 million. When offered $10.3 million, he accepted it in January 2020. The undeveloped portion of the property, which amounted to around three of the four total acres, was not included in the sale.
Billy spent $5.9 million purchasing a townhouse in New York City in 2006. This was part of the divorce settlement given to his ex-wife, Katie Lee. She made a $12.9 million profit after the sale in 2011.
