It comes as no surprise that Netflix is planning to remake its successful 2020 film Extraction. In this article, we will read about Extraction 2.
Extraction is a thrilling action film based on the graphic novel Ciudad by Ande Parks, Joe Russo, Anthony Russo, Fernando León González, and Eric Skillman (child fighting aside).
It’s easy to see why, then, that it became Netflix’s most-watched original movie ever upon debut, with an estimated 90 million households watching it in the first month.
Chris Hemsworth plays a brand-new action hero in Extraction, a film directed by Sam Hargrave and written by Joe Russo that is ripe with sequel potential. He portrays black-ops mercenary Tyler Rake, a former member of the Australian special forces.
In the first film, Rake is recruited by a mafia boss to find and rescue his kidnapped son. A hero in the end, he put his own life in danger to save the kidnapped boy. Not only did he take a chance with his life, but he appeared to have lost it.
Of course, Rake survives to continue the struggle another day, just like any respectable action hero would. As of this writing, there is a dearth of information available concerning Extraction 2, despite the fact that the first film has amassed a large and eager fan base.

Who Is Making Extraction 2?
For the sequel, Extraction 2, Hargrave will once again serve as the film’s director. As a filmmaker, Hargrave made his debut with the first Extraction film. When asked about future Extraction movies, he had hinted that he might not help them altogether. In January 2021, Hargrave told Collider:
“So [with respect to] my own participation, I’d like to be as involved as possible without being greedy. As a fan, I know there are many other extremely gifted directors out there that would offer something entirely new and exciting to the series.

Let’s hope we can do the sequel with the same cast and crew and cement our place in the industry. But as a moviegoer, I’d be interested in seeing other new filmmakers who, like them, can increase the intensity of the action.”
Writer Joe Russo is coming back for Extraction 2. The next film will also be produced by AGBO, the production firm run by Joe and Anthony Russo.
It has been rumored that AGBO is planning to develop additional films in the Extraction series beyond the next sequel in order to create a shared cinematic universe in the vein of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Extraction 2 Trailer
Watch the above to see Netflix’s teaser trailer for Extraction 2, which was unveiled in September 2021 during their Tudum event. Rake’s final moments are reenacted on film, from his shooting to his subsequent fall into a river.
It’s Mahajan’s voiceover telling him, “Tyler, you die not by falling into the river but by being submerged in it.” And then, when it seemed like he would never make it, Rake opened his eyes and began making his way to the surface.

Extraction 2 Cast: Will Chris Hemsworth Return?
Hemsworth will reprise his role as Tyler Rake in the forthcoming film. From Ande Parks’ graphic novel Ciudad, Hemsworth brought Tyler to life in the first film. It has been confirmed that Golshifteh Farahani will reprise his role as the mercenary Nik Khan.
