At a yearly motorcycle gathering in Red Rock, New Mexico, three individuals were killed and five others were injured in a shooting, according to police.
The New Mexico State Police tweeted that the area was secure and there was no ongoing threat to the public’s safety.

According to officials, one of the victims of the shooting was flown to a hospital in Denver. According to the State Police, when injured patients were being treated at Holy Cross Medical Center and The University of New Mexico Hospital, police officers were called to “secure” the locations.
Up to 28,000 motorcycle enthusiasts were anticipated to travel to Red River this weekend for the 41st Red River Memorial Day Motorcycle Rally, an annual gathering with live entertainment.
According to the town’s website, bikers “from all different backgrounds line Main Street for one crazy party.”

An emergency curfew was imposed by local authorities in Taos starting at 10 p.m. on Saturday. During the emergency declaration, which was published on the town’s Facebook page, all alcohol sales were to be halted.
State Police asked the public to stay away from Red River as they conducted their investigation.
The Phoenix Field Division said on Twitter that the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives was responding to assist State Police with the investigation.

Police updated the number of deaths to three in a statement on Twitter early on Sunday morning, revising an earlier statement saying two people had died.
