Before the season started, Brock Purdy was the San Francisco 49ers‘ third-string quarterback. After an injury to starting quarterback Trey Lance, the team turned to Jimmy Garoppolo, who had started the previous season. He had the 49ers in a position to make a run at the Super Bowl with a competent supporting cast.
