JJ Watt, a native of a tiny town in Wisconsin, was the eleventh overall pick in the 2011 NFL Draft by the Houston Texans, and he will remain a member of the team through the end of the 2020 season.
In 2012, 2014, and 2015, he was named the NFL’s Defensive Player of the Year. After the 2022 NFL season, he retired from football after his final season as a defensive end for the Arizona Cardinals. Three times in his first five years in the NFL, Watt was named the AP’s Defensive Player of the Year.
In 2014, he made NFL history by becoming the first player to ever have two seasons with 20 or more sacks. Watt has set new Texans records for both sacks and forced fumbles. Watt was honored as Sports Illustrated’s Athlete of the Year for 2017.
JJ Watt Net Worth
JJ Watt is expected to have a net worth of $54 million by the year 2023. Watt joined the Houston Texans in 2014 on a six-year, $100 million contract. The contract included a $10 million signing bonus, with an estimated 50% of that amount guaranteed. To put it another way, he became the highest-paid player in the NFL who wasn’t a quarterback.
JJ got a four-year, about $11 million contract after being selected by the Houston Texans in the first round to play defensive end. He inked a two-year deal with the Arizona Cardinals on March 1. The contract’s total value was $31 million, with $23 million guaranteed ($20 million upon signing and $3 million in the event of injury).
J.J. Watt’s Philanthropy: The J.J. Watt Foundation and Hurricane Harvey Relief Efforts
Watt is the president of The J.J. Watt Foundation, which he established in 2010. The foundation helps middle schools in need around the country, including those in Wisconsin and Texas, that lack adequate funds for after-school athletic programs or do not offer such programs at all.
Watt is also well-known for the positive impact he has had on the lives of children and their families, including those who have been directly impacted by school shootings. To aid Houston in its recovery from Hurricane Harvey, he also raised almost $37 million (of which he donated $100,000), much surpassing his intended goal of $200,000.

Summit is located in southeastern Wisconsin, and it was claimed in 2015 that JJ had purchased a home there. The log cabin in Waukesha County, Wisconsin, is 4,500 square feet in size and is situated on 35 acres of land. Watt reportedly spent $800,000 on the four-bedroom property.
With an asking price of $465,000, JJ listed his Texas property for sale in 2016. The “modest” home has 4169 square feet of living area, four bedrooms, and a saltwater pool and is located in Pearland. The lot size is roughly a quarter of an acre. Watt paid around $399,000 in 2011 for the property.
