Fans are curious about Kim Cattrall’s wealth and how her Sex and the City income stacks up against that of Sarah Jessica Parker and the rest of the cast in the light of HBO Max’s impending Sex and the City revival. The remuneration of the actors of Sex and the City has been a matter of discussion for years, but it has gained more attention in recent months after SJP stated that Kim Cattrall will not be returning for the revival.
In June of 1998, Cattrall made her television debut on Sex and the City in the role of Samantha Jones. Season six concluded in February of 2004, with series regulars Parker (Carrie Bradshaw), Kristin Davis (Charlotte York), and Cynthia Nixon (Miranda Hobbes).
Cattrall, who had won a Golden Globe for her portrayal of Samantha in 2002, went on to reprise the role in two follow-up films to the series after its cancellation: Sex and the City: The Movie (2008) and Sex and the City 2 (2010).
It’s obvious that Kim Cattrall has accomplished a great deal over the course of her 40-year Hollywood career; nevertheless, how much money did she make on Sex and the City? What follows is what we know about Samantha Jones, including how much she is worth and how much money she made.
Kim Cattrall Net worth
There is a $60 million fortune at stake for English-Canadian actress Kim Cattrall. She has been in films and TV shows for decades, but her breakout performance as Samantha Jones on “Sex and the City” on HBO in the 1980s has made her famous.
Some of the films in which she appeared prominently are “Police Academy” (1984), “Big Trouble in Little China” (1986), “Mannequin” (1987), and “Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country” (1991).
To What Extent Did Kim Cattrall Profit From Sex and the City?
In addition to Parker, Nixon, and Davis, Cattrall was one of the show’s initial four core cast members when it aired in 1998 on MTV. She received five Emmy nods and one Golden Globe win for her work on the series. It is unknown how much she was paid at the beginning of the series, but in the final three seasons, Cattrall reportedly earned a staggering $350,000 each episode.
Cattrall would have made $7 million for season 6’s 20 episodes if the rumored wage is accurate. While quite substantial for the television industry, that sum pales in comparison to what SJP took home. For seasons four through six of Sex and the City, Parker reportedly earned $3.2 million per episode, for a total of $64 million.
But there was a good reason why Parker was paid so much less than the rest of her cast. It’s logical that Parker got paid more than Cattrall, Nixon, and Davis because she was the show’s lead and an executive producer throughout seasons 4 through 6. And by how much more? However, not everyone agrees with you.
A member of the Sex and the City cast reportedly told The New York Post in 2017 that they felt it was unfair that Parker was the best-paid actor on the show although viewers overwhelmingly favored Samantha. Sarah’s rewards were less generous than those of the other girls.
According to the insider, Kim’s compensation didn’t reflect the widespread adoration for her persona and the fact that many could identify with her experiences. Cattrall reportedly wanted $1 million per episode for season 7 of Sex and the City, as reported by Bustle. The application was never accepted, which could explain why the show was canceled after season 6.
In 2004, during an appearance on Friday Night with Jonathan Ross, Cattrall further stated that financial concerns were a factor in the decision to stop Sex and the City. “I felt after six years it was time for all of us to participate in the financial windfall of Sex and the City,” she remarked. When I saw that they weren’t interested, I figured it was best to go on.
Cattrall also made less than Parker in the movies. The first film reportedly earned Cattrall $7 million, while the second earned her $10 million. While SJP got $15 million for the first film and $20 million for the second as an executive producer, these figures are a fraction of what the latter’s director, Darren Aronofsky, made.
Cattrall’s earnings were higher than those of Davis and Nixon ($3 million and $4 million, respectively). Variety stated in 2017 that Cattrall had declined the first film’s offer of employment but later agreed to do so after being paid more.

SJP said in January 2021 that HBO Max was planning a new season of Sex and the City. Cattrall has stated in previous interviews that she has no desire to ever again reprise the part of Samantha, hence she will not be appearing in the miniseries.
Cattrall reportedly turned down the show because she wanted more money than Parker, Nixon, and Davis were making ($1 million for each episode). She, like Davis and Nixon before her, would have been given her first executive producer credit on the special event series.
Kim Cattrall’s New York Apartment
This residence is a perfect example of “old Hollywood glamour.” Cattrall viewed the Park Avenue skyscraper, designed by Emery Roth in 1929, and described its vast, mirrored lobby as a “mini-Versailles” when she first saw it in 2003.
The property is decked up in opulent soft gold furnishings, angular art deco accents, and plenty of Old Hollywood glitz.
