Like a Dragon: Ishin PC Requirements: New Combat Styles And Diverse Weaponry In Like A Dragon

For a long time, Like a Dragon: Ishin was the only Yakuza game that Western fans couldn’t play unless they imported a copy or learned Japanese to shop at the Japanese PlayStation store. Originally launched in Japan for the PS3 and PS4 in 2013, Like a Dragon: Ishin is being remade from the ground up for the Western market in 2019. Here we have the System Requirements of Like a Dragon: Ishin.

What Is It Like a Dragon: Ishin?

Remade from a Yakuza spinoff, Like a Dragon: Ishin takes place before the events of the main series. The year 1867 is represented in this game, thus instead of gangsters with firearms, imagine samurai with katanas (though, to be honest, there are still gangsters with guns).

Despite its historical setting, Like a Dragon: Ishin features many of the trademark elements of the Yakuza series, such as exaggerated storylines and a plethora of optional activities and mini-games.

The publisher claims that the video teaser “shows the new combat styles and diverse weaponry” and gives you a glimpse at “the brilliant swordsman Sakamoto Ryoma defeat enemies with his samurai sword and trusty gun, using various combat styles including Gunman Style, Wild Dancer Style, Brawler Style, and more.”

A “ground-up” remake of the Yakuza spin-off Like a Dragon: Ishin is scheduled for a Western release on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on February 21, 2023.

The chaotic Yakuza gameplay is transplanted to the Late Edo Period for a historical slice of samurai combat in the 2014 Japanese PlayStation 3 and PS4 title, Ry ga Gotoku Ishin! The story follows protagonist Sakamoto Ryma as he travels back to his hometown of Tosa, where he has been sentenced to death after an altercation with a powerful samurai.

Early access on February 17th, as well as the Black Ship Cannon, a cannon stolen from Western ships, and two more additional swords, Kijinmaru Kunishige (a black sword with a white hilt) and Bloody Sheen (a blood-soaked sword), are available to those who pre-order the game.

As you’d expect, the Digital Deluxe Edition also includes a slew of downloadable content (DLC) bonuses, including the Shinsengumi Captain’s Set, Ryoma Growth Support Kit, Sword Upgrade Materials Kit, Gun Upgrade Kit, Third Division Armament Expansion Kit, the Dragon of Dojima Skin.

Like a Dragon: Ishin would only have Japanese voice acting, producer Masayoshi Yokoyama said earlier this year.

While the Yakuza series has occasionally included English voice-acting, Yokoyama said that “specialized vocabulary […] would make the lines very long” for Like a Dragon: Ishin, therefore the game will be translated into English via subtitles instead.
