Man Convicted of Second-Degree Murder in Malibu Creek State Park Killing

Officials revealed on Friday that a man has been found guilty of the 2018 m*rder of a father who was camping with his two daughters in Malibu Creek State Park.

Tristan Beaudette, 35, was killed by Anthony Rauda, who was also found guilty by a jury of second-degree murder, three counts of attempted murder, and five counts of domestic burglary, the latter of which stemmed from a string of break-ins that started in 2016.

According to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office, he was cleared on seven further attempted murder counts related to a string of shootings.

The Associated Press stated that Rauda would be given a sentence on June 7 and could spend the rest of his life behind bars.

When Beaudette was shot in the head in June 2018, he was camping with his children, who were 2 and 4 at the time.

According to AP, the girls were unharmed during the gunshot, and the jury determined that Rauda had not acted deliberately to murder them or with premeditation.

A guy was shot while traveling to a filming location in the Malibu region just a few days before Beaudette was killed, according to the third attempted murder accusation. No harm was done to the driver.

Before being captured that October on a secluded hillside inside the park, Rauda had managed to avoid authorities for months. He was carrying a gun.

According to a criminal complaint, he was previously convicted in Los Angeles County in 2006 as well as in Ventura County in 2014.

The first season of the “Lost Hills” podcast covered Beaudette’s murder, the earlier shootings, the subsequent hunt for Rauda, and the investigation that resulted in the charges being brought against him.
