Season four of Never Have I Ever is in the works, but because it will be the show’s last, we probably shouldn’t rush to watch it.
When talking of the end, series creator Mindy Kaling told Entertainment Weekly: “We finished season four, and it’s good. It’s just a testament to how hard it is to say goodbye to characters you love writing.”
“It takes a while for writers to figure out characters. You write a pilot, and then you hire people, and then you get into this groove. That’s why so many shows growing up lasted like five seasons too long,” she added with a laugh.
“But I do feel that, in a couple of years, I’ll look back on this and say: ‘No, that was good that it ended then.'”
As she enters her senior year of high school, Devi has a lot to learn about life and love. Things between her and Ben appear to be heating up, so we have to wonder what comes next. And of course, her family and closest friends.
Everything you need to know about Devi’s upcoming action is right here.

Why Never Have I Ever Season 4 Is The Final Season?
Unfortunately, the teen romance comedy series will not be able to follow Devi’s journey beyond her high school years. Never Have I Ever co-creator Mindy Kaling discussed the show’s cancellation after four seasons.
“Four seasons for a high school show felt like it made sense. They can’t be in high school forever. We’ve seen those shows. Like, you’ve been in high school for 12 years. What is going on here? Also, the actors get older and it starts looking insane that a 34-year-old is playing a 15-year-old.”
Never Have I Ever seems to be intended by Kaling and the writers as a stand-alone story set during a certain period in Devi and her friends’ lives. The story revolves around a young woman coming of age culturally, identifying as a person, and sexually as she deals with the loss of her father on Father’s Day. Maintaining that relationship after high school may contradict its own goal.
Still, we’ll keep our fingers crossed for a spin-off or a return to Devi’s life in the not-too-distant future in the event that season 4 isn’t the last we see of this specific universe. We really need a sneak peek of college-aged Devi, right?
