April 2018 saw the debut of the most recent anime adaptation of Yichi Takahashi’s Captain Tsubasa manga, which ran from 1981 to 1988. The whole plot of Takahashi’s original manga is retold in the anime. In April 2019, the 52nd episode of the anime concluded.

The anime has a license from Viz Media. For North America and Latin America, the license includes rights for digital streaming, electronic sell-through (EST), home video, and merchandise. In August 2018, Primo TV in the US started airing the anime’s English dub.

Tsubasa Zora, an 11-year-old child who loves soccer and is noticed by his coach Roberto because of his skill in the game, is the main character of the original soccer manga. To prepare for the World Cup, Tsubasa travels to Brazil with his coach.
