The second season of Squid Game, a global phenomenon, is returning to Netflix. We’ll have to wait until at least the upcoming holiday season of 2024 (i.e., Autumn or Christmas) to see the series return. Production will kick off in the summer of 2018 for at least ten months.
Everything we know about the upcoming second season of Squid Game on Netflix will be discussed here, from the release date to the cast announcements and production updates.
A South Korean Netflix Original thriller series written and directed by Hwang Dong-hyuk, Squid Game is one of the most popular titles we’ve seen from the country since Kingdom and Crash Landing on You.
The show reflects Netflix’s increasing commitment to South Korea, which has resulted in the giant streaming spending hundreds of millions of dollars on Korean productions.
Squid Game Season 2 Release Date Netflix
We had a hunch that Squid Game would do well, but we had no idea that the Korean drama would become as popular as it is worldwide. With an audience of hundreds of millions, Squid Game has surpassed all expectations and become Netflix’s most popular Original.
As the show has become so popular, many fans have wondered what the future holds for it. The fact that Netflix had ordered a second season of the show was the worst kept secret in the history of bad secrets.
Numerous people have contacted creator Hwang Dong-hyuk because of Squid Game’s popularity, and he has not been reluctant to respond. Dong-hyuk told Variety that he is thrilled with the show’s success but that the lengthy and taxing production process has discouraged him from immediately returning to the project.
But, Dong-hyuk has revealed that he already has an introductory scenario for season 2 mapped out in his thoughts. Season 2 will come sometime, Hwang Dong-hyuk said on the red carpet at a special screening at Neuehouse Hollywood, according to AP News.
I do have a basic storyline for season two, it’s all in my head, and I am currently in the brainstorming stage. It will happen someday, but as for when I cannot tell you the details.
The second season of Squid Game will premiere on Netflix in 2022, as announced in January by Ted Sarandos, the company’s chief content officer.

Seong Gi-Hun, now sporting a fiery new ‘do, returns in Squid Game Season 2 to track down the perpetrators of the eponymous video game. Furthermore addressed are the repercussions of Gi-decision Hun’s to stay in Korea rather than follow his daughter to the United States.
We hope this second adventure will reveal even more about the strange games and the people behind them. As development on Season 2 continues and the first trailers are released, more information will become available.
