The Fable, Popular Manga About an Assassin Going Undercover, Gets TV Anime

The Fable, a manga by Katsuhisa Minami, is the source of an anime television adaptation, as was disclosed on Monday in the 32nd issue of Kodansha’s Weekly Young Magazine for this year.

The anime is being directed by Ryousuke Takahashi (Armored Trooper Votoms, Phoenix, Ozma). The series scripts are being written and overseen by science fiction author Yya Takashima, while Mayumi Morita (Black Jack, Vampire Knight) is also contributing. Hisama Kinoshita, Saki Hasegawa, and Junichi Hayama are a few of the character designers.

The tweet below confirms the news:

In November 2014, Minami debuted the original manga in Kodansha’s Weekly Young Magazine. The series concluded in November 2019. 22 volumes make up the manga. In 2017, the series took the Best General Manga at the 41st Kodansha Awards ceremony.

The series is described as follows by Kodansha USA Publishing, which is distributing the original manga in English:

When you’re the infamous “genius killer” hitman The Fable, many things come easy. Being a normal person, however, isn’t one of them. In fact, being told that he can’t kill anyone for a while may just be the hardest job he’s ever taken…

Two live-action movies based on the original manga debuted in Japan in June 2019 and June 2021, respectively.

As a follow-up to The Fable, Minami released the manga The Fable: The Second Contact in July 2021. On Monday, the manga’s serialization came to an end. The manga is considered to be the “second part” of the larger manga series. The manga’s eighth volume will be made available by Kodansha on August 4.

The manga will reach its final arc, as was also reported in the 32nd issue of Weekly Young Magazine on Monday.
