The Medium Light On Action

The Medium Light On Action

The Medium clearly drew inspiration from horror classics like Resident Evil and Silent Hill, but the game’s lack of action could put off some viewers. In The Medium, Marianne uses only a flashlight and her psychic abilities to solve the secrets of Niwa Resort and her own past; she never resorts to violence. It’s essentially a more unsettling take on What Remains of Edith Finch, but with a few more environmental puzzles thrown in.

Several Tough Topics Are Explored Throughout The Story

First and foremost, prospective players of The Medium should be aware of the kinds of themes that the game explores. The creation of monsters, and Maw, in particular, is not avoided, as it is the result of a person’s spirit severing the wounded part in an effort to preserve the rest of their being.

Players may find it difficult to get over the game’s repeated discussions of war crimes, child abuse, sexual abuse, and mass slaughter, especially if any of these issues have affected their own lives. The Medium might not be for you if you can’t handle these types of situations.

The Medium Split-Screen Feature

The Medium Split-Screen Feature

Having the ability to explore two separate worlds at once was a major selling feature for The Medium, which utilized a split-screen, two-worlds mechanic. However, this mechanic isn’t featured heavily and only appears in a few locations throughout Niwa. You’ll spend much of your time using the hotel’s many mirrors to communicate with the afterlife and get clues about how to proceed.

The Medium Release Date

In spite of setbacks, THE MEDIUM is scheduled for release on January 28, 2021. Microsoft advertised it as an Xbox Series X launch game, and Bloober Team announced a December 10, 2020 release date for the game. When it was discovered that the release date of Cyberpunk 2077 coincided with that of Bloober Team’s game, the developers made the difficult decision to push back the launch date. Therefore, gamers who already have a subscription will be able to enjoy The Medium at no cost.

The Medium Trailer

A terrifying live-action trailer for The Medium was released before the game’s release. Throughout the story, Marianne is followed by The Maw and comes into contact with a girl named Sadness, both in the physical world and the afterlife. Is The Medium Only Available On Xbox?

In the same vein as Stalker 2, The Medium will be available for PC and Xbox Series X|S. Unlike the vast majority of Series X launch titles, The Medium will not be coming to the Xbox One anytime soon.

Producer Jacek Zieba told Microsoft in May of 2020, “We spent a lot of years thinking about this game and we can achieve our dream about it, but we had a difficulty with the platform.”

So when Xbox Series X came out, we were like, “Yeah, this is the perfect match for us,” and we were free to design the game as we liked. Keeping both worlds of The Medium operating at once with a consistent frame rate and low loading times would be incredibly challenging, if not impossible, on modern technology.

Because of this remark, it’s quite unlikely that The Medium will ever be ported to non-PC platforms, such as the PlayStation 4 or the Nintendo Switch. Although PS5 and Google Stadia ports aren’t currently planned, they aren’t ruled out either.

PC versions of the game will be made available on Steam, the Epic Games Store, and the Microsoft Store. Due to the game’s high system requirements, we advise reading the Steam store page carefully before making a purchase. Pre-ordering The Medium for PC costs $49.99 and grants access to the game’s soundtrack.
