The Ultimatum: Marry or Move On is Netflix’s second foray into dating shows, following the popularity of Love Is Blind. The show, like Love is Blind, was presented by Vanessa and Nick Lachey, and it followed six different couples as they got married or broke up.
The Ultimatum was a huge ratings success for the streaming service, even though some viewers had concerns with the cast from the get-go, notably their age.
With Love Is Blind being extended for a fifth season, many have speculated whether The Ultimatum would also be kept on Netflix.
Is Season 2 Of The Ultimatum In The Works?
The Ultimatum: Marry or Move On was renewed for a second season by Netflix only a few months after its initial airing. The second season is widely expected to stick to the same formula as the first. However specifics are being kept under wraps.
However, the new season may focus solely on couples of varying ages.
“If we took two 50-year-old people, and you threw them in there, all of a sudden you’re introducing a different dynamic, which is, are the two 50-year-old people going to be interested in the 25-year-old people?” showrunner Chris Coelen said.
“So if we had a group of cast members who were more mid-30s, which is a really interesting, viable cast, to me it’s less about the ages than the fact that they’re participating in something where there’s going to be some mutual interest.”
The Ultimatum Season 2 Will Have New Co-Hosts
Netflix has a good handle on the genre of reality dating series. The streaming service is well-known for its many exciting documentaries and exciting original films. Still, it is also infamous for its many popular (and often nasty) dating shows such as “Love Is Blind” and “Too Hot to Handle.”
The first season of Netflix’s newest dating series, “The Ultimatum: Marry or Move On,” lived up to the platform’s description of the show as “a new social experiment that takes love, passion, and relationships to the next level.”
Season one of the show premiered on Netflix on April 6; season two is in the works and will also be available on the streaming service. What’s the most notable change from Season 1 to Season 2? There will be no straight actors in the upcoming chapter.

When speaking with The Hollywood Reporter, the show’s creator and CEO of production company Kinetic Content, Chris Coelen, discussed the upcoming second season. He elaborated, “We’re already well into season two, and it’s amazing. Honestly, it’s so good — stories are so interesting.”
In his following sentence, Coelen said, “The cast of participants in season two is a very different set of participants than we saw on season one. This is a very big, common question, and a huge milestone for people who are interested in getting married. Just setting up the experience and the stakes of that, and then just allowing them to really go through this in the way that makes sense for them. It turned out to be very different, but equally as great, as season one.”
