Tori Bowie Cause of Death
It was announced on Wednesday that Mississippi native and 2016 Rio de Janeiro gold champion in the 100-meter dash Tori Bowie had been discovered deceased in her Florida home.
Her age was given as 32.
Her death was confirmed by her management business and USA Track & Field. They didn’t talk about what killed them.
“We’ve lost a client, dear friend, daughter and sister,” Icon Management Inc. said in a statement. “Tori was a champion…a beacon of light that shined so bright! We’re truly heartbroken and our prayers are with the family, friends and everyone that loved her.”
Sheriff’s officers in Orange County were dispatched on Tuesday afternoon “to conduct a well-being check of a woman in her 30s who had not been seen or heard from in several days,” according to a spokeswoman for the department.
There “were no signs of foul play,” the FBI stated, after the body of Frentorish “Tori” Bowie was discovered in a Winter Garden residence.
Chief Medical Examiner of Orange County, Joshua Stephany, stated the official cause and manner of death are pending.
Bowie won fame as the anchor of the great American 4×100-meter relay team that included Tianna Bartoletta, Allyson Felix, and English Gardner, which won gold in the 2016 Olympics in Brazil.
Bowie claimed her duties that night in Rio was easy thanks to Bartoletta, Felix, and Gardner, despite the fact that she had to run the most crucial 100 meters of the race.
A satisfied Bowie boasted, “I had the easiest job of all,” after the event. All I had to do was bring the stick to the goal line once my teammates handed it to me.
Sand Hill, Mississippi native and 2016 Olympic medalist Torrence Bowie also took bronze in the 100 and silver in the 200 meters.
In the 2017 World Athletics Championships held in London, Bowie triumphed in the 100-meter event, taking home the gold medal.
She attributes her accomplishments to her family back in rural Mississippi, particularly her grandmother.
“Sand Hill doesn’t have any stoplights, not even one,” she said in a 2016 interview. “I mean that’s all I’ve known my entire life. So I’m a small-country-town girl, even at heart.”
Fellow Olympian Lolo Jones, 40, wrote on Instagram that she was “gutted” by the news of Bowie’s death.
Please tell her family how grateful I am that they grew up such stunning human beings. I hope you feel God’s peace and comfort surrounding you at this time,” she added. The Running World is in shock and grief. Let Tori rest in peace.
