Tory Lanez Sentencing Hearing Begins Will He Go to Jail

Rapper Tory Lanez’s verdict is anticipated on Tuesday; Megan Thee Stallion, who was shot in the feet three years ago, claims the incident has left her mentally troubled ever since.

“Since I was viciously shot by the defendant, I have not experienced a single day of peace,” Megan said in a statement read by Los Angeles County Deputy District Attorney Kathy Ta during Monday’s all-day session. “Slowly but surely, I’m healing and coming back, but I will never be the same.”

The hip-hop artist, who gave testimony during the trial, admitted that she had second thoughts about appearing in person to make the statement but that she “simply could not bring myself to be in a room with Tory again.”

She encouraged Judge David Herriford to impose a severe punishment and pleaded with him not to interpret her absence as showing apathy.

After Herriford had lawyers for the two sides discuss each aspect of his prospective sentence, the judge was supposed to sentence Lanez on Monday during a hearing that typically lasts only a few hours. However, the hearings evolved into a protracted two-day session.

Seven witnesses, including Lanez’s father and the mother of his 6-year-old kid, were also permitted to testify before the judge about Lanez’s philanthropic contributions, traumatic background, and devoted parenting.

The tweet below shows some footage of the incident:

31-year-old Lanez, whose real name is Daystar Peterson, is being sentenced to 13 years in prison. Lanez was found guilty of three felonies: assault with a semiautomatic weapon, possession of a loaded, unregistered firearm in a motor vehicle, and careless gun discharge.

Lanez’s attorneys argued in a sentencing memo that he should receive merely probation and be let out of jail to enroll in a residential drug rehabilitation program. They intend to challenge his sentence.

Lanez’s destiny probably won’t be known until Tuesday afternoon because several matters still need to be discussed and settled before the sentence.

Megan stated at the trial that Lanez had yelled for her to dance as she walked away from an SUV they had been traveling in the summer of 2020 and had shot the gun at the back of her feet. They had just left Kylie Jenner’s Hollywood Hills house party.
