Tragic Loss: Two Western Wisconsin Officers Killed in the Line of Duty

On Saturday afternoon, two Western Wisconsin police officers were shot and killed while conducting a traffic check.

The event, according to the Barron County Sheriff’s Department, happened close to Cameron, roughly two hours outside of the Twin Cities.

The Wisconsin Department of Justice said that an exchange of gunfire occurred at approximately 3:38 p.m. as a Chetek Police Department officer was conducting a traffic stop.

Both the Chetek and Cameron officers were declared deceased when they arrived on the scene. The suspect visited a hospital, where they ultimately passed away.

The cops and the individual involved were not immediately identified by the authorities.

No information was given on what exactly happened before the shooting.

A number of police agencies used Facebook to express their sympathies to those hurt in the event.
