The 76-year-old star has already mentioned that she is considering leaving the north east crime drama. She stated that after each show season is filmed, she thinks, “I really don’t think I can do this anymore.”
Filming in the north east of England is challenging for Blethyn because he lives in Kent, and it takes a long time to get there and back. A previous quote of hers read, “Filming usually means six months away from home – and in 2022 it was the best part of 10 months.”
When asked if she would return for a 13th season, she has stated, “never say never.” Our collective fingers are crossed that this works out.
