There were 19 seasons of the Ellen DeGeneres show. Ellen DeGeneres, host of a popular daytime talk show, would boost morale by presenting talented people to the public and giving them offers on various episodes. And so, what became of DeGeneres and her talk show?
Even though her show was canceled in May 2022—along with NBC’s Ellen’s Game of Games—Ellen is still alive and frequently posts throwback clips from the show on social media. If you’re curious about the replacement for Ellen’s midday slot or the reasons for Ellen’s show’s cancellation, read on!
What Happened To Ellen DeGeneres?
At the end of Season 19 in the early spring of 2022, Jennifer Aniston was a special guest on Ellen’s show. The actress had the dubious honor of being the first guest star when the show premiered in 2003. The host of the talk show may have left on good terms based on her tearful departure, but a report from 2020 by BuzzFeed News said that the show promoted a hostile workplace for its employees.
In the report, BuzzFeed included statements provided on behalf of current and former employees who admitted “they faced racism, fear, and intimidation.” A former employee told BuzzFeed “That ‘be kind’ bullshit only happens when the cameras are on. It’s all for show.” Another stated Ellen needed to “be more involved to see what’s going on.”

Ellen apologized after the announcement, which many took as a sign that her show would go on, but she has now opted to leave. However, Ellen claims this was because the show “wasn’t a challenge anymore.”
She told The Hollywood Reporter, “I was going to stop after season 16. That was going to be my last season, and they wanted to sign for four more years… So, we [settled] on three more years, and I knew that would be my last. That’s been the plan all along. And everybody kept saying, even when I signed, ‘You know, that’s going to be 19, don’t you want to just go to 20? It’s a good number.’ So is 19.”
After Ellen, Who Will Host The Talk Show?
The Ellen DeGeneres Show was replaced in the afternoons by The Kelly Clarkson Show that year. Kelly Clarkson is a judge on The Voice and a former champion of American Idol.
She has won two Emmys for Best Entertainment Talk Show Host, and her show has become a phenomenon thanks to online sharing of interviews with celebrities like Anne Hathaway.

How Much Does Ellen Degeneres Get Paid?
DeGeneres’ net worth is reportedly $500 million in the year 2023, thanks to the efforts of her many sponsors. During her stint as a TV host, the longtime hostess earned an annual income of $75 million. Nevertheless, DeGeneres’s fortune isn’t just the result of her TV fame.
Buying and selling properties frequently, DeGeneres and her wife Portia de Rossi just became the most lavish homeowners in Santa Barbara’s recorded history. Yahoo reportedly spent $70 million on a mansion in the Bluffside area.
The estate features a theatre, wine cellar, backyard, private beach, fire pit, outdoor pool, double spa, and vegetable gardens; it is a three-story Tuscan-style mansion. The trip to Los Angeles from the property takes roughly 90 minutes.
