American actress, comedian, and viral video star Dylan Mulvaney was born on December 29, 1996. Since early 2022, she has been famous for sharing daily videos on the social media site TikTok in which she discusses her gender transition in depth.
Dylan spoke with Vice President Joe Biden for the social media news outlet in October of 2022 at the White House. She has over 10 million TikTok followers as of April 2023, and her Days of Girlhood video series has been seen more than a billion times.
Who Is Dylan Mulvaney?
Mulvaney is a popular performer in the United States. Through her Instagram and TikTok videos, she has gained widespread recognition, especially among members of Generation Z.
She told Variety magazine that she was raised as a boy in a “conservative” family and went on to perform in the musical The Book of Mormon. As her star rose in the late 2010s, she appeared in a number of other plays as well.
During the COVID-19 epidemic, Mulvaney revealed that she is a trans woman. While she has only been passing as a female for a year, she has identified as such since she was a young child. She officially became a woman on March 13, 2022.
She told Variety: “I came out to my mom at [age] four. I told her, ‘I’m a girl.’ We were very, very religious so she was like, ‘God doesn’t make mistakes.’ But I didn’t know that I could transition. I didn’t know that there were options or resources.”
Mulvaney has been open about her transition on social media, and last month she celebrated one year of identifying as a female. She has since attended the Grammy Awards and given interviews in which she emphasizes her femininity.
She told the New York Observer upon her public revelation that she had downloaded TikTok under the false impression that it was a children’s app. I made a funny “day one of Being a girl” video after coming out as a trans woman.
Then it all went to hell in a handbasket. TikTok is the only online platform I’m aware of where creators may see such rapid success.
She recently surpassed 10 million TikTok fans.
Why Has Dylan Mulvaney Attracted Criticism?
When Mulvaney met Vice President Joe Biden at a presidential event for NowThis News, their conversation about women in politics went viral. Both online trolls and more mainstream opponents went after her when she and her husband opposed transgender legislation favored by Republicans.
After the president’s visit, Republican senator Marsha Blackburn tweeted, “Dylan Mulvaney, Joe Biden, and radical left nutjobs want to make this absurdity normal.”
This month, Mulvaney was featured in not one but two high-profile commercial campaigns.
