Who Is Ryan Reynolds Married To?
The co-owner of Welsh club Wrexham AFC and star of Deadpool is married to fellow actress Blake Lively. They tied the knot back in 2012, making them a married couple.
Lively’s breakthrough role came as Serena van der Woodsen on Gossip Girl, a series she also starred in on the CW. The show aired from 2007 until 2012, its whole run.
After a three-year marriage to Avengers star and Black Widow actress Scarlet Johansson, Lively is Reynolds’s second wife. From 2008 till 2011, they were happily married.
In September of 2012, Reynolds and Lively tied the knot at the Boone Hall Plantation in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina. Following the civil rights protests of 2020, Reynolds publicly apologised and expressed sorrow at having used the site, which had been associated with slavery.
The pair exchanged new vows in their New York apartment. Taylor Swift is good friends with Reynolds and Lively, so much so that she named her character in the song Betty after their daughter.

July 2010
The two of them worked together and became friends. Despite costarring in Green Lantern, they were not dating at the time. They were both involved with other people at the time. While Reynolds was married to future superhero actress Scarlett Johansson, Lively was dating her Gossip Girl co-star, Penn Badgley.
They made their first public appearance as a unit at Comic-Con International: San Diego in 2010, just before the film’s theatrical premiere.
September 2012
Lively and Reynolds tied the knot on September 9, 2012, in front of close friends and family. The bride wore a Marchesa couture gown, while Reynolds sported a timeless Burberry suit.
“When Ryan first saw her, his face broke into a huge smile that crinkled his eyes,” a source told People. “They just stared at each other with absolute love. Their faces were lit up with the candlelight, and it looked like something out of a romance movie.”
The couple has issued an apology for choosing Boone Hall in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina for their reception. The history of slavery at Boone Hall makes holding a wedding there an insensitive and tasteless gesture.
Reynolds said in an August 2020 interview with Fast Company, “It’s something we’ll always be deeply and unreservedly sorry for. It’s impossible to reconcile. What we saw at the time was a wedding venue on Pinterest. What we saw after was a place built upon devastating tragedy. Years ago, we got married again at home—but shame works in weird ways. A giant f*cking mistake like that can either cause you to shut down or it can reframe things and move you into action. It doesn’t mean you won’t f*ck up again. But repatterning and challenging lifelong social conditioning is a job that doesn’t end.”
The NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund and the Young Center for Immigrant Children’s Rights each received $2 million from the couple in 2019.

In December 2014, Lively gave birth to her first child, a daughter, but she and her husband kept the baby’s name and gender a secret until recently.
One of the parents told Us Weekly in early January, “The baby came early but everyone is happy and healthy.”
April 2016
Us Weekly announced in April 2016 that Lively and Ryan Reynolds were expecting their second child, bringing their total to two. Pictures of Lively from the set of The Shallows reveal that she was pregnant.
September 2016
Page Six indicated that they had a second kid in September. Again, they don’t announce their second daughter’s name until months later, when Us Weekly reports that it’s Inez.
May 2018
While promoting her new film A Simple Favor, Lively’s husband, Ryan Reynolds, taunted her on Twitter for answers to the film’s riddles, to which she responded, “I wish. I could use a little ‘me time.’”

It wasn’t until their friend Taylor Swift’s album folklore that the name of Lively and Reynolds’ third child, a girl named Betty, was made public.
July 2021
In the SmartLess podcast, Reynolds explained in greater detail how he approached Lively romantically. When he and Lively finally connected in Boston, their friendship blossomed into something “out of a fairy tale.”
“I met Blake on the darkest crease in the anus of the universe called Green Lantern,” he joked. “We were friends and buddies, and about a year and a half later, we went on a double date, but we were dating separate people.”
He and Lively had “always kind of kept in touch sort of casually.”
“Next thing you know, she was going to Boston, I was going to Boston and I said, ‘Well, I’ll ride with you.’ We got on the train and we rode together. I was just begging her to sleep with me,” he claimed.
When asked what his big move was, he said, “I would use a little bit of tear stick so I could get the tears kind of rolling…then I would tell a little sob story about my life.”
Then I’d go into some sad life narrative.”

Lively uploaded a red-haired selfie to Instagram to the tune of Smashing Pumpkins’ “Lily (My One and Only)” after Deadline broke the news of her casting.

They had baby number four, but they didn’t announce the name, gender, or date of birth. On Super Bowl Sunday, Lively released a selfie of herself clearly not pregnant, hinting that she had recently given birth.
Around the middle of February, Reynolds gave an interview to CNBC’s Power Lunch about how he and Lively were doing, but he still wouldn’t reveal the gender of their unborn kid. “We’re very excited,” Reynolds said. “Look, we wouldn’t do this four times if we didn’t love it. Everybody’s doing great. Everybody’s actually doing fantastic. If we hadn’t figured it out by now, I think we’d be in deep, deep trouble.”
