After changing the band name to LaBelle, the band put out the No. 1 hit «Lady Marmalade» before disbanding in 1976. As a solo performer, LaBelle had success with «You Are My Friend,» «If You Only Knew,» «New Attitude,» and «On My Own,» with Michael McDonald.
Knight performed as Gladys Knight and the Pips from the 1960s to 1980s and has won a total of seven Grammys. Her hits include «Midnight Train to Georgia,» «That’s What Friends Are For,» «I Heard It Through The Grapevine,» and «Heaven Help Us All.» She has recorded with Elton John, Stevie Wonder, Ray Charles and Dionne Warwick.
